Yr 6 TFL Workshop
On Tuesday Yr 6 were treated to a drama performance and workshop by TfL. The performance focussed on safe travel to school by public transport, cycling and walking and built the children’s confidence to travel alone. One of the characters thought they were safe but they were actually doing all the wrong things and being unsafe! Year 6 were able to spot all her mistakes and learned a lot about how to be independent and safe.
Here are Maggie and Mohammad’s top tips:-
- Remember your stranger danger – don’t speak to strangers
- Don’t be encouraged by your friends to do the wrong thing – trust your moral compass
- Remember your pedestrian crossing skills – stop, look and listen – take your headphones out
- Don’t stand on the road side at a bus stop – be safe and stand on the pavement; watch out for cyclists
- If you are sacred then go to a trusted adult – approach someone in a uniform at their place of work
- Keep your phone out of sight – don’t be a target for thieves and use your phone safely and discretely. If possible stand against a wall when making calls
What a useful workshop! As each week passes Year 6 are becoming more and more prepared for the transition to Year 7.
