Year 4 Footballers Make the Borough Final
Last week our Year 4 football team competed in the Hounslow Borough finals, along with 28 of the best schools in Hounslow. After all the hours of early morning and after school training the time had come to put all those skills into practice. Starting slowly but eventually winning 3 out of 5 games (the highlight being a 7-0 win where Callum scored a hat-trick in just two minutes!) the team did just enough to finish runners-up of their group! Next was the quarter final against The Blue School, where the boys managed a 2-0 win with two brilliant goals from Luke. Then the semi final was against the defending champions of last year St Michael’s and St Martin’s. Each and every one of the boys gave their all and were rewarded with another 2- 0 win! After a long day the twenty-nine schools had been whittled down to just two, Strand and Southville. The team put in another fantastic performance, however, Southville managed to score two quick goals near the end, securing the win. The tournament was characterised by great defensive efforts from our goalkeeper Zak and key defender Corentin, fantastic attacking performances from the forwards with two goals from Elliott and three goals apiece for Jake, Herbie and Callum. Player of the day went to Luke who managed to score five goals and was tenaciously battling for possession from start to finish. The team represented the school with great enthusiasm and we are all very proud of their achievements. Thank you to Mr Ingram for showing great commitment himself, in making sure the team were well prepared for the tournament.
