Strand's Winning Streak Continues

Strand's Winning Streak Continues

The finals of the borough indoor sportshall athletics took place on Monday at the Osterley athletics centre. We took 18 of our finest athletes to compete against the other local cluster winners to see who would come out victorious in the nationally recognised format of indoor track and field events. Strong starting performances from the girls 1x1 (Suzie and Daniella) relay and 2x2 (Lily B and Amelie) relays saw us win both races but more importantly, recording very fast finishing times in the process. Girls and Boys alternate between track and field events so with the girls doing well on the track the boys had to keep their end up by performing well in the field events. Jaiden's speed bounce performance (48 jumps in 30 seconds!) was impressive as was Ji Sang's vertical jump. We continued to push hard throughout the event with more notable efforts from the boys' 4X1 relay, girls' 6 lap run and Pray Anna in the standing long jump. Mr A also bagged some points for the team by coming second in the teacher’s sprint (second to a former Team GB 100m sprinter he might also add!). A brilliant performance by all of the team was rewarded by a fantastic 3rd place finish out of the 16 other borough finalists and 3rd out of the 57 other schools in the borough. Another fantastic result for our school with us recently coming 3rd in the borough football finals for the boys, semi-finalists for the girls football finals and cross country winners for the girls. Squad development this week is focusing on the upcoming netball and hockey tournaments - snow permitting!
