Strand achieves the Basic Skills Mark for the Fifth Time

Recently we were visited by John Dewhurst, (coincidentally ex Headteacher of Belmont) to renew our Basic Skills award. John spent time in classes, spoke to children and looked at samples of English and maths lessons to ensure that we met the new rigorous standards of the mark. Having scrutinized our data and conducted a learning walk to see the children at work, we were awarded the mark – watch out for the plaque in the entrance hall once Mr Wicks has been busy with his drill. Thank you to Javed Qureshi, one of our Governors and Jamie Boukhelida, mum of Aliyah and Safia, both of whom gave up their time to come and share their experiences of how we help children progress in English and maths.
