Strand Shines in Junior Maths Challenge
Strand took part in the Junior Maths Challenge run by the UK Mathematics Trust in April. It is aimed at those 13 and under, and all pupils take the same paper regardless of age. This year more than 250,000 pupils from across the UK sat the paper. The top 6% receive a gold certificate, the next 13% silver and the next 21% bronze. This year we were delighted that our pupils received two gold awards, (Seth and Leo), seven silver (Alia, Rose, Merle, Zahra, Gemma, Dexter and Edward) and five bronze certificates (Naomi, Oscar, Alice, Ella and Izzi). Alec, Maddy, Reuben and Makaio narrowly missed out on a medal but received certificates of participation. Congratulations to everyone – it is an amazing achievement to do so well in a challenge set for secondary pupils!
