Strand Moves to No Smartphones from September
You may have seen the letter that we sent out earlier in the week regarding no smartphones for pupils from September. We have received some very positive feedback from families about this action. A reminder that from September 2025 children will not be allowed to bring smartphones into school. This also means that smart watches (or any devices with connectivity to the internet) should not be worn. This approach is aligned with a growing number of local primary and secondary schools, including Chiswick School, who are also banning smartphones in Year 7. We recognise that families will want to be able to contact their child in an emergency if they travel alone to school in Year 5 and 6, so instead pupils will be able to bring in a basic mobile phone that does not have access to the internet, apps or a camera. Such phones are affordable and easily accessible. Our practice of handing-in phones during the school day will remain unchanged. Thank you for your support.
