Strand Attends Beat the Streets Celebration Event with the Mayor

It’s official: Strand were the 2019 winners of ‘Beat the Streets’ for the Chiswick area. Having topped both the ‘average points’ and ‘total distance travelled’ leaderboards, we were invited to meet the Mayor of Hounslow at a special celebratory event. Super keen ‘Beat the Streeters’, Brodie, Safiya, Sara and Kayl went with Ms Woods to the presentation at Hounslow House. Not only did our representatives lift the trophy, but they were also awarded £400 of book vouchers to bring back to Strand. The stats are pretty impressive – it seems that, altogether, Strandites walked around 1900miles, which is further than walking from the south of France to John o Groats in the north of Scotland! Thank you to everyone that took part – it was great exercise and environmentally friendly... with the added bonus of winning some nice new books to read.
