Sports Day - Thursday 26th June

Blessed with the best weather of the week, Sports Day took place yesterday at Chiswick School. Rain most certainly did not stop play as the Yr 5 and 6 event continued despite the showers. Responding to feedback from families, we extended the Parent viewing area and changed the finish line position so families could get a better view of the action. The result was amazing support for our athletes as they completed the races and tug of war and feedback from parents and children alike was unerringly positive! Our coaches from Premier and OHM joined us and were supported by amazing ex-Strandites as Sports leaders, the event ran like clockwork. As ever, the children were the stars of the show, taking part in 16 skill tests. These were planned and chosen to represent all the skills and sports that the children have covered over this year. This was followed by competitive events: individual races, relay and the tug-of-war. We were so impressed by the efforts of the children. Not only were they able to show how they worked as a team in their team colours, they were also able to shine as individuals by improving and exceeding their personal bests. The sprint and long distance runs were one of the highlights of the day with some superb skills on show – It’s no wonder Strand do so well in the Borough Cross Country!
