Secret Strandites

The Strand Stars, a team of Year 5 footballers (Eli, Lucy, Finn, Felix, Jimmy, Daniel and Freddie) have won their league in the Rocks Lane competition. They played 16 games, winning 13 and drawing or losing 3, to take the top spot in the league and secure a move up next season. The team have been playing together since 2017 and have clearly developed their winning style. Mr Ingram went to their last game of the season and was very impressed with the skills on show – all that extra football practice is paying off! Congratulations and good luck in the coming season – fingers crossed that Brentford continue with their cracking form and follow in your footsteps to the Premiership.

And they are not the only Strandites to have football success …a 5-a-side football team made up entirely of Strandites are on a winning streak. Enthused by their PE sessions and playing together in the playground they decided to put together a team and try their luck in the local league in Summer 2019. “Strand United” were the ‘Chiswick Friday Night 5s’ League Winners at the end of 2019. The team comprises of Max, Jaiden, Jack and George from Year 3, and Joshua from Year 2. Since then they have played 15 games and at the end of 2019 and were awarded the ‘Chiswick 2019 League Winners’ trophy. They have taken their training and commitment to the team very seriously (with not one of them missing a match the entire season) – what an achievement!

The Year 4 football team are playing in the borough final as we speak – we’ve all got our fingers crossed……..
