MRI Engineer Inspires Year 6

As part of the Primary Engineers Award, this week Year 6 were treated to a visit from an electrical engineer and academic researcher. Cyril Molony spoke passionately and inspired the children to pursue a career in problem solving with stories about the many exciting projects he has worked on throughout his career. Most notably, Cyril worked as part of a group of engineers who made the first MRI scanner, saving millions of lives across the world. He encouraged the children to be curious, work hard and develop resilience in order to succeed by explaining that it takes 1001 hours to master a new skill. He stressed the importance of never giving up - a fundamental life lesson for us all! Following Cyril's visit, the children are starting to think about creating their own inventions that will be submitted as part of the Primary Engineers Award.
