Interhouse Rugby
The weather held out last Friday for the first of the InterHouse competitions this year. The Interhouse Rugby tournament allowed every child in the school to take part in competitive sport, representing their teams and trying to win the coveted Interhouse Cup at the end of the year. Some fantastic rugby skills were on show especially from the Year 3's who unlike some other year groups found that running with the ball and only passing when necessary was key to ball retention, therefore gaining territory in the opponents half of the pitch. That said the other year groups did eventually cotton on to this and made significant gains by simply running into space and accepting a tackle! Well done to all involved but as with any competition like this there are winners and losers. Well done to Red team who took the overall title with 12 points, Yellow and Blue were 2nd and 3rd respectively with 11 points each (Yellow gaining 2nd spot due to more tries scored) and Green coming in 4th with 7 points. We look forward to the next tournament in the New Year! The Inter House Rugby Cup was presented in assembly by Miss Essex on Monday to a victorious Red team. Becky congratulated every team for their incredible determination and skill and then told the children about her rugby journey – they were amazed that girls were not allowed to play at her school so it wasn’t until university that she could begin her rugby career.
