Headteacher and Governing Body News

The Governing Body is delighted to announce that Ruth Woods' position as substantive Headteacher of Strand on the Green Junior School has been confirmed by the Local Authority. I am sure staff, children and families will join us in congratulating Ruth and thanking her for the work she has done as co-Head with Sue for the last 3 years and as Head since Sue's departure at Easter. Ruth and the school will continue to be ably supported by Gill Coulton as Deputy Headteacher, Tara Ristic as Assistant Headteacher and a fabulous staff body.

I would also like to announce that we have a new Chair of Governors, Martin Lofnes. After an action-packed 4 years at the helm, I am stepping aside for personal and professional reasons (a very ill dad and a new job.) Martin has been Vice-Chair for over 3 years so is a very experienced governor. He will be replaced as Vice-Chair by John Aldridge, a die-hard Strandite having dedicated over 20 years to the Governing Body. I will be remaining on the Governing Body as SEN and Pupil Premium governor. There will be elections in November for a new Parent governor as Ann Hawker's term comes to an end. We would like to thank Ann for her work and, at the same time, encourage parents and carers to give serious consideration to standing for nomination if you are passionate about state education and are able to volunteer time, enthusiasm or particular skills.
