Ex-Strandite takes on the Food Industry
Many of you will remember the Mazon family from their many years at Strand. This week we learnt that Alice, who finished Year 6 at Strand in 2017, has been nominated for an Inspirational Youth Award as Youth Activist of the Year. This brilliant achievement is in recognition of Alice’s work in challenging food industry giants and advocating for a healthier, fairer food system for young people across the UK. In the course of her campaigning, she has accomplished some remarkable achievements including questioning MPs in Parliament on issues such as free school meals which earned her national recognition in the media on the BBC Food Programme and Times Radio. Nor does her activism stop there: she has held a number of key roles within youth campaign groups - including a school ambassador - and is currently dedicating a year away from her studies to volunteer across multiple organisations. Luckily for us, she also found time to visit the Strand debate club a couple of times last year. Of course, we are all really proud of her and have been casting our votes in the awards. If you would like to join us in supporting Alice please add your vote in the Youth Activist category.
