Coronation Celebrations

Coronation Celebrations

We have a whole day of events planned to celebrate the coronation of King Charles.

In case you missed the letter here’s what’s happening

• Afternoon tea - Your class rep will be in touch with a request for an item of party food to bring into school on the day. Weather permitting, the plan is for the whole school to eat together outside in the playground. In a special lesson beforehand, children will learn about the historical significance of the event and have a chance to design their own celebratory placemat to use at the tea party.

• Make a ceremonial crown competition: ‘A crown fit for a king or queen’ Our Coronation competition was set as a special homework last week. Please see the details on Google Classroom. Homemade crowns can be worn to our Coronation Tea Party on Friday 5th, with the best in each year group chosen for entry into the wider community competition, run by the Strand-on-the Green Association. There will also be a crown-making stall at the Strand residents street party planned for Sunday the 7th with photographs of our entries displayed on the stall.

• Red, white and blue mufti : Another mufti day – this time the theme is red, white and blue! Again, we have teamed up with the Strand-on-the-Green Association to ask families to donate a tombola prize instead of the usual mufti money. The prizes will be used on the tombola stall at the residents’ street party, and the money raised will be donated to Hounslow Food Box, with a small part of the proceeds also coming back to school funds.
