Comic Relief 2023
The traditional Red Nose Day fun took place today with lots of red clothes, some tricky questions in the teacher v children quiz and the traditional teacher gunking. As ever Strandites joined in with gusto with lots of great red outfits and a plethora of red noses. The point of Red Nose Day was not forgotten and each class took a moment in between the fun to reflect on the point of the day – raising money for those less fortunate than ourselves at home and abroad. As ever Strandites were generous and to date we have raised £751.
Strand’s Got Talent! The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the Talent Show when the winners of each of the year group shows performed to the whole school in the hall. The representatives from Year 3 were Mayssam who performed a dance routine, Kaan, Gantisha and Ellie who did a magic trick and both acts performed with great bravery. The Year 4 acts were Carla, who played a beautiful piece on the piano and Fadi who amazed with his blindfolded solving of the Rubik’s cube – quite a feat. In Year 5 Eric played the piano whilst Selin and Sophia performed a dance. The final year group to perform was Year 6 with The Street Dance Troupe (Aurelia, Anouk, Ashneet, Holly, Bella, Nina, Isla and Freya) performing the World Tour and Gabriel doing a guitar medley of some of his favourite pieces. We are so lucky to have such a talented bunch of Strandites. Well done to everyone who participated in the event.
Gunk a Teacher The voting was neck and neck all week with Mr Caton, Ms Woods and Mr Murray being the front runners. The excitement mounted as we approached the big reveal at the end of the Talent show. The playground was prepared, the plastic sheet was laid down and the buckets of gunk (coloured cornflour and water paste!) were mixed and the ladles readied. The children were very excited as the lucky teacher was announced– Mr Caton, who eventually won by a landslide was, it has to be said , less excited but took his gunking in good humour!
