Challenge Partners Visit

Earlier this week we welcomed a review team from Challenge Partners to Strand. The team, an OFSTED inspector and two headteachers from Portsmouth and Edmonton, spent time analysing the school data, observing lessons, looking at books and talking to children. They were wowed by our confident children and the exciting learning opportunites we offered. We saw some cracking learning going on; Year 4 mathematicians solving perimeter problems with algebra, Year 5 readers discussing the nuances of ambition verses ruthless ambition in Macbeth, Year 3 describing animals in French and Year 6 discussing the differences between democracies and meritocracies in their class novel, The Wind Singer. It was great to see some of the teaching techniques staff have been trialing having a real impact. A huge well done to the staff and children who really showed Strand in its best light.
