Au Revoir

We’re saying “goodbye” to some much loved colleagues at the end of term. Bea Jennings, having bravely commuted from Sutton since she returned from her second maternity leave in September, has decided that the journey is just too much and so she will be leaving us to move to a job closer to home – walking distance in fact! Bea joined us as an NQT and has brought many things to Strand over her time with us – her creative costumes on World Book Day, choreographing dances for the Year 6 show, taking a leading role in the panto, inspiring us all with her cup cakes, the list is endless! The staffroom will certainly be a quieter, and tidier place, without Bea (and Sophie and Theo!) and we wish her well in her next challenge which involves teaching a Year 2 class! Similarly Andy Naslund will be not be returning in September. Having trained with us as a GTP student, Andy is a Strandite through and through. He has been responsible for raising the profile of citizenship and democracy, beginning our partnership with the St Paul’s foodbank and gaining us the coveted Silver Healthy Schools award. Generations of Strandites have learned the importance of the democratic process having taken part in mock elections and referendums from Andy. His most important contribution has obviously been inspiring that next generation of Brentford fans – with more time on his hands Andy will be on the terraces at Griffin Park more frequently, with his trademark call of ‘Come on You Bees!’. Charlotte Hiett is also leaving us as she is moving to Nottingham to live with her partner. Charlotte has just been with us two years, having trained with us on the SD programme before spending the last year in Year 4. Although her stay has been brief Charlotte has won a place in everyone’s heart with her endless positivity and commitment to do the absolute best for the children in her care. Finally Lucy Harris our SD trainee is leaving having completed her training.
