Athletes Jump to Victory

Yesterday, Strand took a team of athletes to Chiswick Community School for the qualifying event of the Indoor athletics tournament. All six of our local schools were present with the top two making it through to the borough wide finals. Strand started off very well by winning the standing long jump and standing triple jump. JJ astonished the secondary school teachers with his jumping skills - he had to stand 2 metres back from the start line so that he could land in the area being monitored by officials!!! Other field events included the soft javelin throw, the vertical jump and the chest pass throw. The team track events though were where Strand excelled. Both girls and boys teams won their first race and the boys continued their winning streak by winning 4 out of 6 races. The girls finishing in runners up spots in 3 of their remaining races. The results were compiled straight away and the combined efforts of our team ensured that we have qualified for the borough finals. Well done to Aidan A, Javell, JJ, Jake, Tom P, Micah, Muhammad, Miles, Constance, Matilda, Chloe F, Jasmine, Georgia, Cleo, Flo and Claudia.
