Anti Bullying Week BLUE Day
This week has been Anti Bullying Week and Strand has joined in wholeheartedly. Across the school, the children have all been taking part in sessions to raise awareness of bullying and the role we all have in putting a stop to it. The week culminated in everyone wearing blue for 'BLUE Day' (Be Lovely and Understanding to Everyone) to show their commitment to stopping bullying. Thank you to Mr Naslund and the School Council for organising the week and launching our focus with their special assembly. Clearly inspired by the focus, the children have impressed us with their empathy and reflection – two of our key values. Special mention to Heyba in 3R who went the extra mile and made a whole booklet at home sharing her thoughts on how to stop bullying; her key message was 'Take Responsibility for Yourself'.
As part of our Parents' Questionnaire we asked if you would know who to talk to if you were worried about bullying and we asked the children the same question in their sessions this week. The children had all got the key message that it was important to tell others and gave us huge lists of people they were comfortable talking to, from Grandma to Mrs Brown in the office! If you are concerned in any way just come in and tell us – chatting with your class teacher is probably the best place to start.
