A Testing Week!
Spare a thought for the children in Year 6 who will be taking the 2019 SATs tests next week. They have to take the tests in rigorous exam conditions, and the results will form part of their end of key stage assessment. In order to ensure that everyone is able to do their best, some early nights and healthy breakfasts are the order of the day. Don’t forget water bottles and healthy snacks for a brain boost between papers; they will certainly be welcomed. There has been lots of illness around so if your child is poorly next week and unable to come to school, please phone the office as early as you can so, if necessary, we can put alternative arrangements in place for your son/daughter. The children have worked their socks off in preparation for the tests and they look to be taking everything in their stride – GOOD LUCK YEAR 6!
The children in the rest of the school will also be assessed in maths, reading and spelling at some time in the next two weeks. We do our best to keep this as low key as possible. The tests help us measure children’s individual progress and see how well each year group is doing compared to national norms. The results of the tests are reported to families in the summer and contribute to the decisions we make about tailoring provision to meet your son/daughter’s needs.
