5RA's Assembly
5RA’s assembly was the first of the academic year and it set a very high bar. Their assembly focused on the book Year 5 have been reading, ‘Iqbal’ by Francesco d’Adamo, which explores the theme of indentured child labour in Pakistan. 5RA skillfully led us through the inspirational story of Iqbal’s life and the hardships he and his family suffered, before debating the pros and cons of child labour and telling everyone how we can all play a part in ending such practices. The children were knowledgeable and confident, raising awareness of an important inequality that exists in the world today – the right of all children to childhood and education. A huge well done to 5RA for an informative, thought provoking assembly. Special mention to George from River class who showed the Strand Values in action when he found the courage to speak in assembly for the first time today.
